Steve Madden Return, Refund & Exchange Policy

Return Policy

General Return Terms

Steve Madden gladly accepts returns of UNWORN merchandise within 30 days of delivery except clearance items, which are final sale and may not be returned or exchanged. Returns will be refunded to the original method of payment.

Items That Cannot Be Returned

All purchases are final on the following items:

  • Clearance items (prices ending in .99)
  • Masks and mask filters
  • Earrings
  • Gift Cards and E-Gift Cards
  • Items labeled “Final Sale”
Return Authorization Process

You may obtain a return authorization by visiting the Returns Center or via phone, Live Chat or e-mail. You will then be able to print a prepaid return shipping label.

Mail Returns

For mail returns:

  • Shipping charges are not refundable
  • There is a $6.95 per order return fee that covers restocking and postage back to the warehouse
  • Returns must be shipped back within 7 days since the return label was issued
  • Drop off returns at any FedEx location
  • You will receive an email when your return is received and your refund has been processed
In-Store Returns

For your convenience, Steve Madden accepts online returns at Steve Madden stores (only stores in the USA excluding Colorado, Utah and Savannah, GA locations). Requirements:

  • Unworn merchandise within 30 days of delivery
  • All handbags, clothing/apparel and accessories must have original tags attached
  • Take merchandise in its original packaging (polybags with UPC for apparel/clothing and accessories) to the store
  • Must have the order number or email confirmation sent after order placement

Returns will be refunded to the original method of payment or as store credit.

Refund Processing

Refunds are always issued to the original method of payment.

Payment-Specific Refunds

For AfterPay, Klarna, or ShopPay Installments: Once your return has been processed, Steve Madden will notify AfterPay/Klarna/ShopPay. They will then refund you the installments paid up until that point and cancel or adjust the remaining payments.

For Cash App Pay: Cash App Pay transactions originating from the stored balance in the app will be refunded to the customer’s Cash App account balance. Cash App Pay transactions originating from a linked debit card or bank account will be refunded to the original card or bank account. It can take up to 10 business days for Cash App to receive the refund.

Gift Returns

If the item was purchased on SteveMadden.com, you may contact Customer Service and they will issue a ‘Gift Exchange’ return authorization. Once the item is received back, a Promotional Code equal to the amount paid for the merchandise will be emailed to the gift recipient so they may purchase a different item on SteveMadden.com.

Exchange Policy

No Traditional Exchanges

Steve Madden does not do exchanges. Their reasoning is simple: their products are in high demand and if you send back the item you want to exchange, there is no guarantee they will have what you want at that time.

Exchange Process Alternative

Steve Madden suggests you:

  1. Place a new order for the style, color, size you want
  2. Call customer service at 1-888-SMADDEN to get a return authorization and a prepaid FedEx shipping label to send the original item back as a return
  3. When you call customer service, have your new order number handy so they can file the return as an exchange
  4. A full refund will be issued once the merchandise is received at the warehouse
