Consumer Cellular Return, Refund & Exchange Policy

Risk-Free Guarantee

Consumer Cellular offers a 100% Risk-Free Guarantee for all new customers:

Standard Customers
  • 30-day trial period from service activation
  • Cancel within 30 days, 300 minutes, 300 text messages, or 300MB of data usage (whichever comes first)
  • Full refund if not completely satisfied for any reason
  • No charges apply if cancelled within the trial period
AARP Members
  • Extended 45-day risk-free guarantee
  • Same terms as standard customers but with additional 15 days to evaluate service
  • Must provide AARP membership information to qualify for extended trial

Device Returns

Return Eligibility
  • Devices purchased directly from Consumer Cellular
  • Must be returned within the risk-free trial period (30 days standard, 45 days for AARP members)
  • Device must be in like-new condition for full refund
Return Process
  • Contact Customer Service at (888) 345-5509 to initiate return
  • Return shipping label will be provided
  • Package device securely with all original accessories and documentation
  • Refund processed once device is received and inspected
Exclusions
  • Devices brought from other carriers (BYOD program) are not eligible for return through Consumer Cellular
  • Damaged devices beyond normal wear may incur restocking fees

Service Refunds

Monthly Service Charges
  • Pro-rated refunds available for unused service within the risk-free trial period
  • No refunds for partial month usage after trial period expires
  • Service must be cancelled before trial period ends to qualify for full refund
SIM Card Credits
  • New customers receive a $10 credit on first invoice, effectively making the SIM card free
  • SIM cards available at Target, Sears stores, online, or by phone

Device Protection Plans

Coverage Addition Window
  • SquareTrade or AppleCare Plus protection plans can be added within 30 days of device purchase
  • Plans can be added through My Account online or by calling Customer Service
  • No protection plans available for BYOD devices
Protection Plan Returns
  • SquareTrade plans: Coverage for manufacturing failures after manufacturer warranty expires
  • AppleCare Plus: Extended warranty and accidental damage coverage for iPhones
  • Protection plans are non-refundable once activated

Warranty Coverage

Manufacturer Warranty
  • All factory-new phones include 1-year manufacturer warranty
  • Covers manufacturing defects when device is in like-new condition
  • Defective devices replaced rather than repaired when possible
  • Troubleshooting with Customer Service required before warranty replacement
Battery Replacement
  • Replacement batteries not available for purchase separately
  • Battery issues covered under manufacturer warranty result in full device replacement
  • Third-party battery installation voids Consumer Cellular warranty

Exchanges

Device Exchanges
  • Device exchanges may be available within the risk-free trial period
  • Contact Customer Service to discuss exchange options
  • Exchange subject to device availability and compatibility with service
Plan Changes
  • Monthly plans can be changed at any time without penalty
  • No exchanges needed – plans are flexible and can be modified as needed
