Bunnings Return, Refund and Exchange Policy
Website: bunnings.com.au
Overview
Bunnings will happily assist customers who wish to return or exchange goods purchased from any of our stores across Australia or online. Our returns policy is designed to provide excellent customer service while maintaining fair business practices and is in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Return Process
In-Store Returns
When returning products in stores, all products for return or exchange must be identified to the door greeter or gate keeper upon entry into the store and you’ll be directed to our dedicated in-store ‘Returns and Exchanges Desk’ where Bunnings Team Members will provide you with assistance.
Online Order Returns
Online purchases can be returned either in-store with the tax invoice or by contacting our Customer Support team at customersupport@bunnings.com.au.
Simply come into the store you placed your order with, and we’ll happily assist you with a return or exchange.
Return Timeframes
There’s no time frame involved with returning products that are ranged in our stores. You just need your proof of purchase and for the item to be in a saleable condition.
For practical purposes, most returns are processed within a reasonable timeframe, with items needing to be in saleable condition.
Change of Mind Returns
We are pleased to offer returns or exchanges on non-faulty goods. Yes, you can return an item if you’ve changed your mind.
Requirements for Change of Mind Returns:
- Items must be unused and in original packaging
- Proof of purchase required (receipt, tax invoice, or bank statement)
- Items must be in saleable condition
- Bunnings reserves the right to refuse any exchange or refund
Refund Methods
All refunds will be provided back in the original tender. Cheques will be refunded as cash and credit card refunds will be processed back onto the credit card.
Without Receipt:
- Proof of identity required (e.g., driver’s license)
- Store credit or exchange voucher may be offered
- Bunnings reserves the right to refuse returns without proof of purchase
Exchange Policy
Exchanges are available for eligible items under the same conditions as returns. If you’re an account customer and presenting goods for return or exchange, a copy of the original invoice must be presented in-store along with the goods to arrange an account credit.
Items That Cannot Be Returned (Change of Mind)
The following items cannot be returned for change of mind reasons:
- Custom-made products
- Products cut to size per customer request
- Tinted paint (if you change your mind on the colour)
- Opened toilet seats
- Used pet products
- Commercial quantities are not generally returnable
Note: These products can still be returned if they are faulty, not fit for purpose, or do not match the sample or description.
Perfect Plant Promise
Plants have a 12-month guarantee (except seedlings) under the Perfect Plant Promise. All garden plants are guaranteed for 12 months. If you’re not 100% satisfied with your plant, return it with your receipt for a refund.
Exclusions: Seedlings (including flower and vegetable seedlings) and potted colour plants (bloomers) are excluded as these are short-lived plants not expected to live for more than 3-5 months.
Faulty or Defective Products
You are entitled to a replacement for or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Under Australian Consumer Law, customers are entitled to:
- Repair, replacement, or refund for major failures
- Compensation for other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage
- Repair or replacement for goods that fail to be of acceptable quality
